Student Memorial Program
Established in 1990, the Student Memorial program at Appalachian State University honors the memory of App State students who passed away while they were enrolled at the university. Each student’s family is invited to the annual memorial service, during which the student’s name, along with a statement provided by the family (optional), will be read. With permission from the family, the student’s name is added to a memorial board that lists the names of deceased App State students, located in the lobby of App State’s B.B. Dougherty Administration Building. The service is a private event, and media, including student media, are not allowed to attend.
