Flu Clinics
Wellness and Prevention Services and Student Health Services hosted five student flu vaccine clinics in October 2023. Two hundred and eighty one students received vaccinations; the most popular location to get vaccinated was the Plemmons Student Union Solarium, representing 28% of vaccinations given. Students who got the shot enjoyed free t-shirts and snacks from Wellness and Prevention Services. Zoe Bestmann Smith, senior public health major and WeCARE peer educator, said “I had a great time working campus flu vaccine clinics and empowering students to take charge of their health one shot at a time.”
Our friends in Health Promotion for Faculty and Staff also hosted an employee health fair on October 6th and vaccinated many faculty and staff. Flu and COVID-19 booster vaccines are still available for students by appointment at both Hickory and Boone Student Health Services locations; call 828-262-3100 to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins at the Hickory campus Student Health Service are encouraged on Tuesdays from 9am-4pm.
