The Inside Out of Professionalism

About the Session

Throughout this discussion session, we will use Disney Pixar’s Inside Out to explore how Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust affect the ways we communicate with students, and how students communicate with higher education professionals. This session will further develop participants skills to identify and listen to their emotions as professionals. using with new ideas on how they can support students while continuing to challenge them (and themselves) throughout their careers. The goal of this session is to provide a breakdown of how our dominant emotions affect Power & Privilege in our roles, how emotions have impacted our work, and the ways we can normalize feeling and talking about these emotions professionally. This session will provide new Leadership strategies for participants to take back with them.
